Fashion designer Donatella Versace has entered rehab to treat cocaine addiction, reports the New York Times. Donatella, 49, has long had a drug problem and her recent dramatic weight loss has given rise to continuous tabloid speculations. Rumors that Donatella might be undergoing the drug treatment leaked at the end of June, as the designer showed up at the Milan show looking terribly thin and wearing hair extensions, because her hair had fallen out. For the first time in years she has failed to show up at Paris fashion show earlier this month.
"The family views this as a private matter. We hope the press will respect this as such," Versace spokesman said.
According to Vogue, the company denies that Donatella’s drug problem resulted in the decision not to present a spring/summer 2004 couture collection.
"The money allocated for couture was put into marketing and advertising for the ready-to-wear and accessory lines," the spokesman said.
